jq26
I received my denial letter from Kay Jewelers on Saturday. I make decent money and have about 10% debt-to-income so i was surprised to get denied. There was only one reason listed on the letter- banruptcy listed on public record. I was under the impression that Kay Jeweler was BK friendly? Maybe they changed their policy- other than the BK, there is no other way they should have denied me credit.STARTER BK CARDS: score bad 6. elyse449
I almost tried to apply--my credit scores have improved (signer on Chevron card and new home loan) but I DO have an older BK still listing...so thank you!! Whew, saved me an inquiry ding! I hope they consider, at least, putting a warning on the sticky.E~
harlock
Kay's is BK friendly, jq26 stated in another thread his BK is only 90 days old. You need to season your BK probably at least 6 months before applying for things IMHO. I got Kays with BK 6 months out.

jq26
that could be- though I got a few other cards. The Sticky regarding post BK credit cards has Kay listed as a starter card, not as a 6month+ card, so I was following the system! That Sticky is old so maybe thier rules cahnged internally! Good for everyone to know.
elyse449
All good points, thanks everyone. I'm still a bit chicken to apply though since I'm not "sure" where my FICO's are right now...I think I'll wait. I already promised myself that if I applied and was denied MORE I'd go ahead and wait 2 yrs before reapplying. I applied for household bank since I got an offer from them...but they haven't yet decided..."Need more info...49.00 processing fee...etc."E~
edubb007
We all started there! The trick is to get your scores and use the Yahoo group to see what the range of score for approval is and get the best card you can to start out with. Without the scores you are flying in the dark! Well... without radar anyway?!?!?
