creditcardcory
I just pulled my FICO last week and scores were TU 653, EQ 659, EX 671 with 2 negs, 1 neg, 1 neg respectively. At this same time my PG scores were TU 608, EQ 616, EX 620. Since then 1 negative has been deleted from each CRA (a CO from Cap1). My PG is now TU 641 (1 neg-utility), EQ 717 (0 neg), EX 746 (0 neg).FYI on 12/30/04 my PG scores were TU 591, EQ 616, EX 585. jq26
I'm dissappointed to see how huge the spread is between PICO and PG. That's a bit disheartening. I wish they'd at least attempt to get them to be close to one another. But great job getting the neg removed and bumping up your scores!!
creditcardcory
I agree. PG cannot be counted on for a score, however it is accurate with credit activity. So it still is a good tool, just not complete.FYI - I have had an average of 30 inquiries on each CB and my score increased 1 to 1.5 points on FICO and PG with each one removed. jq26
QUESTION- I filed BK7 in 03/04 and it was discharged 10/04. Inexplicably, my FAKO scores went up overnight last night with PG, 35 points with Equifax, 7 with Experian, and 13 with TU. Nothing has changed in my account history. I am thinking that maybe this has something to do with CRAs aging my BK to +1 yr as of today (now that it is officially 03/05). Anyone with any insight on this? I am encouraged by this, but ultimately, I'm trying to get a rough idea as to how FICO (and FAKO) scores are calculated.10/04 FICO 492/567/46102/05 FAKO 598/623/61303/05 FAKO 633/630/
crofttk
FICO scores are calculated with algorithms owned by Fair Isaac. PG reports CreditXpert scores which are calculated by a different algorithm owned by a different company (Neuristics I believe). There's no reason to expect them to be the same as they weigh different parameters of your credit file differently. They're two separate products designed for two different clientele.Standard FICO scores are your best bet for anticipating how MOST creditors will evaluate your application for MOST types of credit. jq26
Thanks croft. I guess in general when FAKOs go up, then FICOs have a shot of going up, but who knows? Kind of sucks. Some on here have their FICOs and FAKOs within a few points of each other but I also noticed that others are 50 points off. I currently have a fraud alert with all three, so I can't get FICOs from myFICO. I'd have to pay and order them direct- and that won't happen anytime soon. The FICO mystery will live on
crofttk
jq26:Can you get a ScorePower report from Equifax ? They're the only CRA that sells a true FICO. At least you can get one of your three FICOs if you can order online or by phone directly from Equifax.
jq26
Good question. Though I am 12-15 months from buying a house so I'm content using PG as my guide for now. Maybe that will be tomorrow's project. Are there fees involved? I hate paying fees to the CRAs. It tears me up.
crofttk
I'm afraid so. Any credible credit score will cost something. An Equifax ScorePower report right now runs $14.95, same as at myFICO.com. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any discount codes for Equifax.I can't judge the value of $15 for you but I agree it may be more cost effective to stick with PG for now if you need to work on your credit files with a house purchase 12-15 months out.If you can part with the $15 any time soon, it might be a good idea just to get the EQ FICO score and note how that compares to your PG score (if it's based on EQ, for some it's based on EX).If that's too costly for now, you might want to put extra effort into checking your real FICO score(s) a month or two before a home purchase just to be sure you're on track. That being said, it's totally possible to go strictly by looking at your data and making sure none of it is incorrect and that it's VERIFIABLE. It's just that you have to be sure you've educated yourself enough to know how things SHOULD read (if you haven't already -- if not, you've come to the right place !). Just don't put too much weight on the PG score(s) or count at ALL on it matching your FICO scores.Hope that helped.P.S. Don't want to hijack this thread more than I have but 24 months out from discharge with squeaky clean documented tradelines since discharge is generally a more typical target date for buying a house after BK7 (which I did) so I'm surprised you're looking to buy up to a half year before that. jq26
croft- It definitely reinforced the fact that FICO does NOT equal FAKO! I am working on the verification of debts, but at the moment all six negatives on my reports are correctly reporting as IIB and I have one public record (I had BK7 in 10/04). I still sent DV to the two CAs on my reports and disputed all six IIBs as not mine a few days later. Maybe one or two will come off during this round now that I had all of my old addresses associated with all of the TLs and BK removed from my reports. The specifics probably aren't relevant to this thread, but from reading (and reading and reading) I think I have a good short term plan in place-thanks again for your input! crofttk
No problem. Sorry I added my P.S. AFTER your reply but I won't tax creditcardcory's tolerance for hijacking any further !
