mwatwell
My credit score is 538. I have several charge offs and a bankruptcy from 1997. I have been working very hard to clean up my credit. I have made arrangements with 2 creditors for a one time settlement offer, both agreed. The rest of my accounts are older credit cards that have been charged off. Can I somehow remove these from my account. Some are older than 7 years and I have sent letters to the Big 3 to remove them. Will that work? I do have some good auto loans that are paid as agreed and were never late. Should I keep those even if the are 7 years old or more or will they just fall off? Please help, what can I do next??
lyrech
I'm kinda new to this, but 2 things I can tell you for sure. First of all, Do NOT remove the good accounts. If they are good, leave them alone. Second, make sure the creditors you settled with will agree to remove themselves or mark "paid as agreed". If they mark it "settled", they are not helping you at all. Are these OCs or CAs?? Also, the things that are 7 years old...is the DOLA at least 7 years ago? If so, they *should* be removed just by writing the CRAs. HTH a little!
