blessed06
I sent a DV letter to a medical collection agency! They sent a letter 28 days later stating that my obligation has been ignored!! What is this! The only verfication they gave was the name of the oringnal creditor and the amount they say I owe. Shouldn't the verification be more detailed. Should I sent a follow up letter?
Josh Mcgrath
How much is the debt for? They sent a letter statting that they are ignoring you or at least basically saying something similiar? You've already got them by the balls here. You can already sue.

workinninetofive
This has happened to me. You dv'd them, and they sent you another collection letter, right?? If that is the case then its continued collection activities. That is $1,000 violation. Have they reported this to any CRA? No, that is not validating. Look under debt validation above. Should I sent a follow up letter?Realize that there is a difference between verification and validation... It's the CRA's job to verify with the CA when you dispute with the CRA. It's the CA's job to validate the debt to you when you send them a DV request. If they respond with a verification- which is what it looks like they did- they haven't done what you requested! In your DV make sure you say something to the effect of This is not a request for "verification" or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the [Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (]~quoted from the debt validation letter here: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/sampleletter9.shtmlOnce your 35 days are up, send them another DV- and reiterate exactly what you're expecting, noting that they didn't comply with your request previously.HTH!!!
