thanks for the encouragement... I posted this more to inform than to brag.. many people warn that goodwill letters can result in the deletion of the entire tradeline.. in my case it did just that. I didn't expect the whole TL to be deleted, so just let me reiterate a the word of caution..

Be careful what you ask for

Is this good or bad? Yeah I disputed late payments and a balance on an installment account. Once the creditor fixed it the reporting Companies thought they were going to delete a 82 month positive payment history instead of updating it to paid as agreed and no lates. I spent more of the better part of a day on the phone with the Bureau's on that one, though TransUnion seems to be braindead at this point, are they all in Pakistan or something? Even if you get someone who doesn't speak with a totally broken accent your still going to deal with what i consider to be the absolute worst customer service of any of the 3 or something even higher like say worse than 60% of all professional customer service in the professional world.

I'm really not liking TransUnion much can anyone tell? they also refuse to investigate fraudulent inquiry activity, anything fraudulent should be intestigated.

I am writing a letter about my experience with that is a combination "thank-you" and a pressing request concerning a Card Co tradeline in my credit files that I would like to have revised.

I received the Card Co card (my very first credit card) in 199x. After many years of on time payments, a 2000 mile job related move from [This state] to [that state] left my mail forwarding in shambles. I became disorganized with respect to, as you saw, making my usually timely payments with Card Co. After my mail problems were sorted out, I fully recognized my responsibility with respect to payable accounts and worked diligently to rehabilitate my relationship with Card Co since that period (March 200x).

The move was a "wake-up" call for me regarding fiscal organization. Since then I believe I have learned the essential organizational and financial management principles and I currently pay all my bills online. Thankfully, responsible credit management is now reflected in my credit records which -- excluding a couple of other lates during that same time period due to the mix up in my mail, is strong.

I am about to shop for a mortgage, and it has come to my attention that the late notations from Card Co may preclude me from taking full advantage of the very lowest interest rates now available. Since those notations do not reflect my true or intended payment habits, I am requesting that you give me a second chance at a positive credit rating by revising those tradelines. Your customer service representative suggested that I write you for a "goodwill adjustment." I sincerely hope that there is redemption at Card Co, and I beg you for such consideration. Please let me know if any additional documentation would assist in reaching a positive outcome, and I thank you again for the time you have spent reading this letter.

Very hopefully yours,
