FishOn
I am starting the DV process for some old collections from having my identity stolen years ago. Can I use the truncated account numbers from my report or do I have to find the whole number? If so, where do I go to get it?FWIW I tried doing a search on this, but couldn't find anything.Thanks. Use the Truncated number. That should be a sufficient enough reference. Good luck! -Jenn

divemedic
I don't give account #'s during DV. I just give my name and address. I do it this way for a couple of reasons.1 They are more likely to screw up and make mistakes. Mistakes=violations2 If they have more than one account for me, including one I don't yet know about, I am covered
bigdaddyroy
Good insight DiveMedic. I mentioned the exact same thing to my sister-in-law, but she did not listen. I can't wait to show her your post. We can't make it easy for them.
FishOn
I hadn't thought of it that way, good point. IC Systems has 3 CA's, one of which was paid, so I sent two DV letters and a dispute letter CMRRR. These CA's are from '99 due to a former tenant of mine who stole my ID and told Bell Atlantic I'd pay his phone bill. He trashed the place, skipped out and I got hounded for the bills. Is just a name and address sufficient enough for them to work with or is there a chance they'll write back saying they don't have enough info from me to do proper validation? Thanks. miracle
No because it is up to them to prove the debt is yours and that you owe it.
