Got a letter from CPS Scurity of Corpus Christi, Texas. Appears to be a CA. Have sent a letter entitled "Demand Notice to Pay Debt on Sworn Account. No mini miranda.

It is for a Home Shopping Network bill for $44.00, which was for a purchase under their "easy pay program", to be divided into 3 equal installments.

Since we are/were regular purchasers of their products, our credit card number was on file with them. The credit card was lost and we were subsequently issued a new one.

(Please note that I am saying "we", however "we" is my husband."

HSN has called numerous times, but I was always the one who answered the phone. Since the account was in my husband's name, they refused to talk to me.

Of course, since I am an idiot, my husband ignored the whole thing and now we have this. Fortunately and selfishly, I am glad that it is not MY credit which is being affected, however if it comes out of the family budget, then I am being hurt, too.

I swear, I am so sick and tired of dealing with BS which could have been handled so simply with a little effort and responsibility on his part.

Anyway, how should I proceed at this point?

They now want $181.55. This debt is about 6 months old.

Here's another thing to think about too.

If a "sworn account" is an affidavit executed under oath, did the CA [or their client] really go that route? Highly unlikely for $44.

Therefore, by insinuating the courts or legal process is involved......

I certainly hope you file the appropriate complaints.
