Ok , I have been reading and reading and while I am still a bit intimidated by all of this I am ready to start repairing things on my CR. BUT I need some advice , please.

OK , I will start with this .... I have some paid collections and a paid settlement ( says legally pd for less than full amount ) on my CR. They are from 2000 and 2001 . What is the best course of action.

Do I send a DV letter to the company and ask for the original records or a cert. of Destruction ? Or do I just send a dispute letter to the CRA ? and what would I say in the dispute if this is the way to go ?

Like I said I am new to this and im still intimidated by the CRA and companies , I know that sounds silly  but I am not at all knowledgeable about any of this and get nervous when confonting people even by phone .

So what would be the best way to do this.

I used these two links to get started...these guys operate on people being fearful and intimated, get empowered...until I realized I could get some major crap off my credit report I was in major depression at times..think once I was even suicidal when the CA were harrassing me to death...I even got served at my workplace one time, and pretty sure I lost a decent job because of that incident..but now I am down to just a couple of things left to clear up..go for it!

Thank you :)

I read the links , just let me make sure I have it straight.

Even though they are paid collection/settlement accounts ....I DV the OC because thats whos on the CR , and at the same time I dispute with the CRA .

Is that right ? Thats what I got from the flow chart I read. But then another post said dont DV a already paid collection/settlement...thats why im so sonfussed.

I should follow the flow chart , right ?

OK , I just read some more and It says I cant DV OC because FDCPA does not apply to them , right.

So if its a paid off collection/settlement and the OC is still listed (WFN Value City Furn and HSBC Kmart Corp>) How do I do it because its not a CA listed , its the CO. atleast im assuming thats the OC because of the name.

Do I just dispute with CRA and thats it ?

Since I'm new too I thought I'd just post my question here....

I'm really glad I found this board. I've been lurking here for a couple weeks, and I'm getting started now. My question is, when I write to the credit reporting agencies, should I include the account numbers of the items I'm disputing?

Let me know if I'm thinking this over too much--I'm just wondering if it's better to include them, or not to include them, or if it doesn't matter either way....
