codename_fortyseven
I just got off the phone with Experian of all people and lo and behold, the DO dispute credit inquiries. I know talking with experian is hard enough, but I managed to get through on 1-800-493-1058I also mentioned that I had a few inq's that don't belong there, and their response was "Ok, that's been disputed, what's next?"Perhaps they figured out that when the FCRA says "ALL information", they really mean ALL information.Like I said, these folks at the bureaus are just being lazy, don't believe the hype. c m chase
Don't be surprised if you get the "inquiries are a statement of fact and cannot be disputed" letter.
codename_fortyseven
Should be interesting...The reason I am holding out hope is because calling them before, I got the standard "inq's are a matter of record..." response and was stonewalled right there. They wouldn't even allow me to dispute them over the phone. Given that they were so quick to dispute, I am guessing they might have changed policy or something. It would be just my luck that they don't....Regarding the "matter of record" defense, couldn't they parrot that line for anything? I mean if it is presumably good for inq's, why not everything else? Judgement? Matter of record, check with the courts. Collection account? Matter of record, contact the CA. Unknown account? Matter of record, contact the creditor. I know they only offer this defense because they are lazy and must have been spending too much time/money tracking down inq's. They want to shift the burden of proof to the creditors and individuals, but from reading the FCRA, it says you can dispute ALL info, and I'll be darned if an inq isn't info, especially since it factors into my score, but alas another fight for another day... Sultan
I know a lot of people here hate Experian, but of the 3 I find them tremendously easier and much more on the level than TransUnion. I've actually had reasonable success with them and I think that they are for the most part on the up and up, you may encounter a jar-head on the phone from time to time. Hang up and start over when you do. My humorous guess is that, I think that some people who work there have credit scores of 300 and below so they seem to be very dead set on not going out of their way to help anyone (could be a power trip thing who knows) There are also some very good people working there, I know this because I have dealt with several of them personally.Anyone ever tried sending them a good will letter thanking them?, witch hunters are a bad group to join.
