I said I want to dipute the name XXXXX they said have you ever went by that name , I said No .( It was an old married name from 12 years ago , but I never changed my SS card to update a name change after I was married , its still in my maiden name ) I thought none of the accounts on CR had that name...I was wrong one did. they connected me to the fruad dept. they said the name comes up under a old account so they will have to investigate. Now what ? I have called the co that holds the account ( Its a great joint acc. with my mother opened in 97 and NEVER a late ) I put in a name change and address change to refelect just my current info with them. The lady at the CC co said it would be about 48 hours before the name change went into affect , do you think EX starts to investigate right away ? Did I do the right thing making the name change at the CC co.. I honestly forgot that account was in that name or I would have done it before I disputed the name.I was scared talking with the lady at the CRA she kept saying fraud and we will investigate.LIke she would charge me with fraud or something. God I cant beleive how nervous and scared I get with these people , Its like im a friggin child and they just want to intimidate me

"Oh gee, you know what, it just occurred to me I never changed that...musta been a 'blonde' moment".CRAs and CC and CAs get paid to be intimidating. That's one of the reasons you should always deal in writing.(and...just for the record...they weren't accusing you of fraud...they were asking if you wanted to file a fraud report against someone else).Not to worry...

She kept saying things like I will investigate this . And if your name is on an old account are you sure it isnt yours because We will check it out and find out. It was my first go round at this and she had me shaking in my boots WELL ....What a SHOCK , I went online to come here and I checked my e-mail and it said investigation results in , or something to that effect... I pulled my report online and The names are GONE as well as the phone number and address I disputed.It was only hours.I feel better now . Confidence growing bit by TINY bit
