IncreaseMyFICO
I have a judgment against me in the amount of $5452 from a 'Mom&Pop' store in Louisiana. The judgment date is March 2000. The problem is that I do not know how to contact the creditor to make payment arrangments. The shop has gone out of business and I was able to obtain the name of the owners but cannot locate an personal or business address for them. Since I still have 2 years before it will be removed from my credit, I would like to make payment and/or settle the debt. Any suggestions on how to go about this??? Sultan
File the paperwork to have the judgment vacated, do a search for the business and get a letter from the business licensing department of the city where the business was located that states no such business exists, a judge may set it aside for you if you can get it filed and bring the proof that there is no such business any longer, also you can try the 'I didn't pay them for a reason, because they attempted to charge me for goods or services I never received or were not delivered as promised and now they are out of business, they must have brought themselves down through their un-ethical conduct... ect.' Thats what I would do any way. G/L
lwilliams1922
This company got a judgment against me 5 years ago in a Virginia Beach court. I did not know about it till after the fact. I've lived in Northern VA for the last 7 years. Well, over the last 2 years I've tried to contact the court and the company without much success.I found out the company went out of business and the attorney representing them died back in Jan. What do I do now? I called the court and explained that to them and the clerk was like 'Do you want to pay now?' I said 'pay who?' She said send a certified check to the court for the amount plus 18% interest. I find that hard to believe. If both the company and the attorney no longer exist what happens? When I wrote to the credit agency to dispute, they contacted the court who said 'yes there is a judgment'. They took that for verification not looking at the fact that the plaintiff in the case no longer exists. Can anyone tell me what I should do?
