buffy-2u Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Okay, I am kinda a newbie at this whole thing. I need to clean up my and my DH credit reports. So far, this forum has been great in helping me get started. After taking a week to read all the info out there, I signed up with PG, got a couple of annual credit reports (in order to dispute), and I am taking my first baby steps. The first thing I did was to dispute my old addresses. Some got removed within 1 day! Next I went for things that were very close to the 7 year mark. Got a foreclosure off my DH's 2 months early, that took like 2 days after disputing online. Wohoo!!! I had a Cap 1 TL on my report that was my husband's not mine, called Cap 1 YESTERDAY and was very nice about it, they said that they couldn't help me, but when I pulled my PG's today--GONE!!!!My problem is this: I think that I should start out "playing stupid" with the DV requests in order to try to get the CAs to do some major violating in order to have more leverage. Is this the right approach? If it is, I can't find a letter for DV that is not all full of legalese and stuff. Is there one out there? I don't want to hit them with the big guns yet, I want to let them hang themselves first so that I can get deletes on stuff that is less than 7 yrs, but past the SOL. Plus most all of my TL's do not have DOLA on the CR and that works against me. Sorry for the long post, but I am kinda worried about how to go about starting what is going to be a big job! I almost feel intimidated by all you guys out there.....Thanks for any suggestions that you may have to offer.
Rose Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I'm a newbie too, so no advice to offer--but Hi anyway
buffy-2u Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 Hi, Rose...Have you had any luck with anything on your report yet?
c m chase Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 You're doing fine so far, Buffy. Keep up the good work! You can send dumb-blonde DVs if you want...sometimes it works out rather well. You don't have to be technical at all about it if you don't want. Just send them a letter saying:"Dear Yahoos,I see this account listed on my credit reports and don't belive it's mine. I am therefore disputing the account and asking that you please send documentation showing the alleged account belongs to me.Love,Buffy" You can also ask for certain things if you want....something with your signature on it, copies of statements, copy of the contract, etc.
divemedic Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Chase, you could try the "Johnny Dangerously" letter I proposed before...Dear Ice a holes,You have wiolated my fargin civil rights. If you fargin bastages donna prove I owe this money, you better take this offa my credit report before I rip your fargin walls off.Signed, Mr Marone
buffy-2u Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 Thanks, CMI was wondering which approach worked the best for you? Honey or Vinegar? I seem to have good luck over the phone, and I know that is a no-no, but for what I needed, it seemed like a good start..and lo and behold-I got the results I wanted without spending a dime!!! Another quick question...did you dispute your old addresses? If so, how and what did you tell the CRA's?
c m chase Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 LOL Dive!! You're a freak. Buffy....I always start out with honey. Then if they don't work with me, I rip away. Yes...I disputed the old addresses. I just called them up and here's about how it went:EQ: "Hi, EQ here...we suck, but what is your social security # and how can I help you?"Me: "The social is 123-45-6789. Yeah...there are some addresses on here that aren't mine and I need them removed, please."EQ: "What are the addresses"Me: " [ I read off all of them except for my current one] "EQ: "Ok, ma'am...so you NEVER lived at those addresses?"Me: "Nope."EQ: "Ok, those will be removed. How else can I help you?"And they were gone the next morning. Not a big deal at all.

buffy-2u Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 Once again..THANKS! Chase....I am must say that I am feeling a little less intimidated now..EQ was really easy about the addresses, I just did it online POOF! GONE!EX makes you call...and there is like 20 different addresses..many versions of the same one...an they make you call or write-no online disputes for that. I think that I will start with the Honey approach and see how many flies I can catch! Thanks for taking the time to answer!
buffy-2u Posted March 10, 2005 Author Report Posted March 10, 2005 ok, I called EX to get rid of old addresses, and guess what? They won't take them off if they were reported by a subscriber. They won't even dispute them. I asked why I couldn't dispute them when I thought that was the whole purpose of disputing...their word against mine. She would not even budge. Just said that she could not enter a dispute. Uggggh...what is the point? I asked her if that means that inaccurate info then gets to stay on my report because I cannot dispute it, and she just said that I need to take it up the companies that are reporting the addresses...Any thoughts on this one guys? Any way to get around this? I thought that all info was disputable? Am I wrong?
workinninetofive Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Workinninetofive....are you following me? No, I just saw this LOL. I just read the topics on the main page.. they seem like the "hot" ones lol.

Take the alert off later. JMO
