Odd situation

I was a joint account holder on a furniture account my DH had. He filed ch.13 in jan 2002. This is the only account I was on with him. showing The OC received a payment every month from the trustee. His Ch 13 was a 100% repayment plan. The account was paid in full plus interest as of 12/2004. For the last couple of months the account has been reporting as a CO (several months after the BK was filed) with a $9 balance and $0 past due. I disputed this on my CR as it was incorrect. So now the account has been updated to show a perfect history up till 1/2005 and then as a CO with a balance of $0 and past due of $0 and the Remarks= account closed by consumer paid charge off Status= bad debt & placed for collection & Skip. The account was paid off in 12/2004 so it can not be charged off after it has been paid off and this "new" CO had caused my score to drop. How should I approach this with the OC? My line of thought was FCRA violation of misrepresentation of character of debt?

Any one have any opinions?

Was this with Equifax ?

I have recently had a payment history updated on an old chargeoff that now shows pays as agreed in the status but charge off in the payment history for every month since the acoutn was settled and closed.

I am wondering if this is a glitch in someones system somewhere or a deliberate way to update the status but keep a negative history on record - give with the left and take away with the right.

The guy at Equifax agreed that it looked wrong but that is what the OC reported .... let that go on the phone but pursuing it by letter. If its obviously wrong I argue that they should delete it regardless of what the OC reports.

yes, this is with EQ. They are a constant thorn in my side. Basically the same thing happened to me. It was reporting as a CO showing up a year or two ago, but now it has been updated to good until Jan. 2005 making it appear to be a new CO which is hurting my score even more. I plan to call to OC today.
