credit-nightmare
I just reveived my EQ credit report today , I was working off just the TU and EX to see what I had ahead of me until this one came in the mail . TU and EX had what I expected to see. This one had things I don't even know where they got them from .Its almost like the others , late this ...bad that....yadda , yadda , yadda....But EQ has , under collections , an account I don't even recognize ( damn , I need spell check ) , and its listed twice Both are placed by Nationwide Recovery Systems ( anyone delt with them ? ) and the same acct # on both . both say assigned on 5/2001 . It doesn't list a client ?! and each entry has a different amount ( only a $6.00) difference . Unpaid bal. as of 7/2001 $844 .00 and the other is 8/2001 $850.00 .I dont ever remember having any account back then . and If I did I don't remember a collection agency. The only thing I can think it may be is my old Martial Arts school , which closed when I still had time on my contract , but I went in and told them I refuse to keep paying because the school was a joke .We also moved about 45 minutes away during that time.Since its an unpaid bal. What should I do. I know the school no longer exist ( unless they went somewhere and opened new ) but Im guessing the records might , I don't know.Do I DV in the hopes of no records . I have not heard anything from them at all !
miracle
Send a DV.. don't list account numbers... let them prove it to you that you owe the debt. Good Luck! -Jenn

pursuit
YES! old NRS. I am fighting them right now for a $289 listing. I just sent letters to the CEO and VP. Also have lodged complaints with BBB, AG, FTC already, all to no avail!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nationwide Recovery SystemsMr. Steve McWhorter, V.P. Collections2304 Tarpley Drive Suite 134Carrollton, TX 75006RE: Acct # xxxxxxx File # xxxxxx***CERTIFIED MAIL***Mr. McWhorter:I have chosen to write you directly because of your advertised expertise in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.On 12/29/04 and 1/10/05 I sent letters to NRS requesting validation in accordance with FDCPA, Section 809. I received a quick response which was handled by Josh Hunter. To date, Mr. Hunter has been unable to provide a full accounting or full legal validation of the debt in question. No doubt you are well aware of your company’s responsibilty to cease all collection activity and notify the credit reporting agencies that this debt is disputed as outlined in Section 807(eight) of the FDCPA. Please take the time to review my account and you will soon find that NRS is in direct violation of the FDCPA. Also, I must remind you that collection laws in the State of Texas essentially mirror those at the federal level. Thus, a violation of the FDCPA is also a violation of Texas Statute. Please take the time to carefully review the avenues for monetary relief provided me under the FDCPA.I formally exhort you to officially and permanently withdrawal all collection activity on this account and notify all credit reporting agencies of this action. I hope to reach an amicable resolution as expediently as is possible.Respectfully,pursuitEnc:12/29/04, 1/10/05, FTC Wollman Opinion LetterCc: Mr. Christopher J. Mathews, C.E.O. J. Park Esq. credit-nightmare
Thats them alright. I checked the address on my CR and that is the address listed . From your post im taking it to mean they're not very compliant coroperative ( as if ANY of them are ) .Since this is an unpaid collection account I was wondering about the SOL for them to try to collect in Maryland . It doesn't list a DOLA it just list the assigned date ( 2001) and Status as of date ( 2001) . What are the SOL in Maryland ?

credit-nightmare
I did an online dispute . They are only listed on EQ. They are not listed on the others . I wasn't sure if I should have DV them first because its not a paid collection and it still has a bal. due , but I did do the online dispute . credit-nightmare
Just my luck , I get the stuborn CA that only list on the Stuborn CRA Thanks for the SOL info. So if the SOL is 3 years for a written contract . They can't collect now right ? and if the dispute with EQ comes back as verified should I DV the CA and redispute with the CRA or is there something else I should do ?I will also check to see if the CA have a bond on file in TX to collect ( which I guess they do because they are coming after you so hard pursuit ) and if they need a license and bond in MD to collect against me here . Is that how it works . I know Texas said they need a bond in their state . BUT in my state it says Lic. and Bond Req. So even though they have a bond in TX they have to have a bond AND license in MD to collect against me here? right

DV and redispute ? and in the redispute would I use that the SOL is past or something else.Thanksmy experence so far.... I don't know any FICO yet , so .... EX ... TU... EQ .... HeartRN
the SOL is 3 years for written contracts , so that means they can't collect right ? No, the SOL means that can't pursue legal action. They can still attempt to collect though.
