Differences in credit reports??

I have 3 credit reports from 3 different sources and all of them are completely different. Allow me to explain. I have a 3 burea from Privacy guard (the best one of them all) one from a mortgage broker who is helping me get a loan, and one where I tried to obtain a loan from a credit union and was denied. The last one is the most frustrating, and cause for this post. The credit report the Credit Union pulled has items listed such as involuntary reposessions, old collections accounts, lates etc. The problem I have with the aforementioned items is I had them removed over a year ago....or so I thought. Is it normal to see wide variations in credit scores from different sources who pull them?

I've searched this forum and have noticed several people complaining of differences in their credit reports. I'm really getting frustrated by this. I was down to 4 negative things on my credit report. :x or so I thought....I go and try to borrow a little money (about 5k) and offered 10k worth of collateral and they said "no". :(

You have a right to know what factors the company used in the decision to deny you credit.

There is ony one credit report for each CRA (EX,EQ,TU). They may differ from one another, but if one gives a creditor something that is untrue, you can sue for BIG bucks. You may be confusing the difference in the 3 CRA's with the the creditors reasons for rejection. Yahoo groups has a listserve groups called "Who Pulled My Credit?" which wil tell you what creditors are pulling what CRA of the three.

If you feel false informaton was reported to the creditor, start a dispute. After that you can send an intent to sue within x # of days. That should get the reports aligned after a bit of legwork.

ANYTIME your credit is pulled through a 3rd party vendor the data is affected by that vendor's software. This is just one of the reasons why you should NEVER, EVER (did I say never?) get your credit from a 3rd party. All lenders use 3rd party vendors and some are better than others.

If you have gotten the inaccurate data removed from your permanent file with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, then the problem may not be with your raw file itself, but with what shows up during the pull (merge logic). If that is the case, there is nothing you can do re-actively to correct it. You CAN be pro-active and have a copy on-hand of accurate raw files to prove what SHOULD be there.

Control and limit those inquiries, OPT OUT, pay accounts on time, use revolving credit properly and work to clean up inaccurate and obsolete credit data. These things will give you the highest scores, but you gotta be informed also. Don't get discouraged, get informed! KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!
