credit-nightmare
Alright . My question is this.... I don't have a CA to deal with. Im dealing with the OC ....Capitol One . We just closed the card ( this month ) we haven't paid the balance off yet so they wont consider it offically closed till we do. We have late payments on it , it went to 120 days late two months ago and I sent in half the amount owed. How do I try and work this . They wont do a pay for delete , gave me the old we cant do it by law line. Then they said they can't because it went to 120 days late Then back to we cant do it by law again.Should I keep trying to PFD . If we let it go into collections it will just rack up crazy charges and penalties , so we want to pay it off now. Are there any other options for dealing with a OC or do we just have to leave it on CRA for a while and hope they mellow over the years enough for a goodwill letter , but given CAP 1 reputation , I doubt they will mellow to much. Are there any other options. Do I just dispute and redispute with CRA everything and anything to do with the account . Since it is new im sure they can verify it. So whats a good plan of attack , if there is one .Thanks. credit-nightmare
OK , Just for the hell of it I called Cap One again. This time the lady said they won't delete the trade line but will change it to say Paid in Full , account closed by customer , and remove all lates. Is that just as good. It sounds good but I didn't want to take it until I checked back here. If It says Paid In full is that OK on the TL. I dont want it to look like a collection , would it ? It sounds good , but you all know alot more than me about this !! So is this a good deal. and how should it be worded if not ?Thanks

credit-nightmare
OK I tried to post this once , but I guess I messed up somehow...Just talked to CAP 1 agian....Man I knew they were tricky little _____ers !! I told them to fax me a letter stating what we agreed on with the PFD or Paid no lates and have it signed by supervisor or someone with the authority to sign it . Waited , no response. Called back and talked to the rep. waited and The supervisor gets on the phone and says ...Sorry but CAP 1 doesn't remove nagative info from CRA. I told her thats not what the rep. had said , and I told her the rep had talked to her supervisor who said it was OK. She said , sorry ....NO.The most she could do was send a letter saying it was paid in full ... I told her The report would say Bal. 0 after I paid it anyway so her letter is nothing. Then she says....How do you want to pay the balance due ? I said Im not , I will take my money to the creditors who will work with me .Then she says ( get this ) If you dont pay It will reflect bad information on your CR NO SH*IT !! Thats why I called in the first place IDIOT !!So I guess im back to square one with CRAP 1 . What should the next plan of attack be ? .....Close it , Pay it off in full ....wait a couple months and then dispute. any other opttions?ThanksCAPITOL ONE MAY YOU BURN IN

nevermore
Crap one is hell to deal with. Most likely any disputes with the CRA's will fail. Goodwill letters occasionally work with them though.Or you may try a restricted endorsment letter, it needs to be sent to a specific address, check the info that came with the card. Dont know if that will work but it may be worth a try. Check your state laws and the info that came with your card so everything is done right. And remember record, record, record. Record phone calls, and record any correspondance to or from them. Keep anything that may later be of use. Good luck.

LadyButler
I'm dealing with Crap 1 as well... I think I've basically decided that if I can't get them to delete... I'm just not going to freak out about it. I'm pretty sure I can get them to settle for less than owed... and I'll be happy with that.Good luck for you... and let us know if you make progress with them!!! credit-nightmare
I dont even have any of the paperwork that came with the card We got the pre app. in the mail and applied by internet. I didn't know to keep things like that when the card came. I will try to find out about Restricted End. laws in my state of MD. This is the only bad thing on dh Credit. ( I also have a old Cap 1 on mine but I was trying to deal with his first ) I was hoping because it never went into collections ( we just closed it ) that mabey they would help. HA !! I was livin on fantasy Island !!! One supervisor says yes , two say no . Its nuts.So I guess if worse comes to worse I will just have to play the waiting game for a couple of years and try again . In the mean time I will hope somebody someday can shut down that Awful Company ( and I use the word company lightly , They remind me more of a old time knee breaker company that gives you $10 , then wants $50 and breaks your knees just for the hell of it )CAPITOL ONE MAY YOU BURN IN

credit-nightmare
I forgot to ask... If I do end up trying the restricted Endorsement path, Even though I have read Cap. 1 most likley wont do it , Do I have to make sure MY state has restricted End. laws or the state that cap 1 makes you send the RE check to ...or both ? nevermore
It would be your state laws. And not all states will allow for it.I'm not sure if Crap one will go for it. They are hell to deal with. Best to go the goodwill route first. Come up with a good sob story and try that route a few times first. And you could still dispute it with the CRA's, just dont expect much. The restricted endorsement route should only be used as a last resort. It has to be done just right and basically accepted by them. And it cant be sent to their usual payment address. It's an iffy sort of thing at best. dgbbld
try sending a good will via planet feedback it workrd for me with cap 1read this threadhttp://debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26957&highlight=
credit-nightmare
I think I will try some good will letters first. Resticted endorsement sounds a bit complicated for me...Im a newbie at this and just got the hang of writing a dispute letter , better not tread into the deep water yet We just closed the account last week or so and I want to pay it off before next month so they can't add any more fees. I thought when I closed it , it was closed but I found out its not closed until I pay thre bal. off , so I dont want anymore overlimit or late fees being piled on.I will try the name and address you gave me dgbbld , but I have never heard of planet feedback ...what is it , like an email service ? Champion80
WHO told you that they would remove the lates?? Man you had it right there on the phone with that one, just like DIVE said that is way better than a delete. I will go back to WHO told you they will delete the lates, listen up, you have to work hard in the next couple days on this, of course take the route of Planet Feedback, but you can get this resolved over the phone, I would not quit, what was your sob story?? You did have a sob story right? How was your payment history with the company before, how long have you had the card? Pull out all you can, you need to get the supervisor on the other line to empathize with you, do not give up. What is the balance as well? The ball is in their court really, this account will effect you badly with the 120 days lates for a little while, so you really need to work on them, make sure you reiterate that you want to pay the balance off in full, and this small mis-hap could effect your house loan you are "about to get" in the thousands!! of dollars over the life of the loan. You can do it!!
credit-nightmare
We have only had the card for a year , and it was paid on time until the last 4 months. Then I paid half the balance owed , and closed the account. I only own around $200.00 and want to pay it off before the next billing date.I called and talked to the rep. and told her " the sob story " and she said yes , I can have the lated removed for you. I asked for a fax to be sent and signed by the supervisor or someone able to do this for me. She put me on hold came back and said OK. Of coarse it never happened and I called back and another supervisor told me Sorry , but we won't do it. I told her about the other girl and gave her her name and that she had said her sup. said it was ok..she said Well they were just misinformed...so no go.I will try calling again , and then writing and see if I can get anywhere with planet feedback. I will atleast try.
