JZ
Hi, Guys,I had a Chase Master card and is was chargeoff. There is a comment on the Equifax report: Account Closed at Customer's Request. Charge-off Account.". The account is opened at 11/02 and reported on 10/03 after 5 months late pay. The past due is $347 but the balance is $2820, the credit limit of the card. Now Tritium Card Services told me the account was owned by The Bureaus Inc. and they told me if I pay $2260 the account will be cancel and everything would be fine. I don't recall when and how I requested to close the account without paying but I cannot say I didn't. I might did so like a fool because of misunderstanding due to my poor English. So the first question is "Does it make sense to argue with the credit card company?" I boought a house and was so desperate to get this resolved that I called them many times until yesterday my loan officer said that the lender knew it but they don't care. Of course I won't call them anymore but unfortunately they got my cell phone, my home phone and my work fax number. So the second question is should I follow the debt validation process and use the sample letters to deal with the collecotr? Bear with me my third question is: " what does DV stand for? What does OC or CC stand for?" Like I said my English is horrible, otherwise I wouldn't had make that stupid mistake. I was in good finance status but God knows how come I didn't pay for it. Thanks guys.JZ
score booster
Yes, DV them. Read up on it. If they slip up, you have recourse. Debt Validation, Original Creditor, Credit Card, Collection Agency.
KentWA
Have you talked to The Bureaus yet? HAve they sent you anything yet?The reason I ask is they turned up on my CR and I had nothing from them in writing. I called them and they went into their collection speal. I hung up and waited for them to send me my mini-miranda within 5 days. They did not so I sent them a DV. Guess what, the day they got it, they called me to tell me if I made a "good faith" payment they would send me the DV info. ROFLMAO.So far they have not responded to 2 DVs, No Mini-Miranda, Continued collection and not reporting the dispute on my CR. I now have plenty of leverage to get a deletion.
