Crapola Cap 1 have 2 hard inquires listed on CR 1/2005 for an pre-approved offer, application which was denied - reason given was my SSN returned as a deceased person.(WTF??)

Unfortunately, since I am very much alive, I called them tonight to close 1 of 2 of my current accts that I have with them, high APR and limied CL, the other I will be closing at the end of this month. I request the removal of hard inquires since somebody on their side fat-fingered my application,so why should my score be penalized by them trying to do a verification because of someone's incompentence. They will not do it,stating that they cannot remove these hard inquires, and added that they will not report the acct. closure to CR until 30 days, during which they can still claim a PP if they deem necessary ...I probabely needed to call and hangup more to get a co-operative CSR but will have to try it from the CRA end now since Cap 1 are just so customer service orientated..

Deceased?? And you already have 2 accounts with them?? Bizarre.

I know little to nothing about removing inquiries; the only thing I can think of would be to send a letter to the higher-ups at Crap 1 and explain your situation, and inform them that it has cost them your patronage.

I HATE Crap 1; liars and thieves.

Dear Crap1

Re: my recently denied Pre-Approved Offer of Credit

Thank you so much for informing me that I am no longer living. If it had not been for you, I would never have known. You have certainly spared me considerable embarassment I may have endured for lack of knowing this, especially in social situations.

I understand your need to pull my credit report in order to secure the credit offer you so gracioulsy extended; however, I do not believe that pulling my credit twice in one month can be considered permissable, expecially since the offer was declined - since I am deceased.

(It must have been quite a shock for you, considering I had 2 open accounts with you at the time.)

I find your refusal to remove these hard inquiries more distressing than being denied credit. Its one thing to be deceased - its quite another to have my credit affected by what I consider to be frivolous hard pulls.

Since I am no longer living, and apparantly have not been since January of this year, I would like to dispute any and all charges incurred from this time made to my other 2 accounts with your company, including but not limited to purchases, interest, and fees.

Due to these circumstances, I feel I can no longer do business with Crap 1, and will be closing my remaining account at my earliest convenience. I will not be recommending Crap 1 to any of my friends - deaceased or otherwise.

NO... thats not the letter I would really send. But it would be tempting...

Good luck Diva
