DPK99
I signed up for the scorewatch (or wahtever it's called) monitoring service and thought it would allow me to get an updated score whenever I logged in, but apparently not. My most recent new score was March 1. Are the scores posted at the beginning of each month?
lyrech
I have the scorewatch, too. It was working fine for the first week...I actually got an update that my score went up about 20 points. But, that was it, now I get nothing. It is supposed to update anytime there is a change in your report (which could be everyday). Very frustrating. horns
see my other post about myfico.comthere scores are not accurate as far as Im concerned. the only scores that are "true" are the ones that your potential lenders pull, and then you can use those as baselines..I feel myfico.com is a SCAM
DocDon
Joe, see my answer to your post. FICO is not a scam - it has its place in the scheme of things.
horns
yes, it might have a place in the scheme of things but when you compare the myfico.com scores to a auto, bank, mortgage lender or other creditor...they are WAY OFF.....I dont even consider them a baseline at this point....but, thats my opinion and opinions are like credit scores and everyone has one....LOL
DocDon
The other scores you see are based on Fair Isaac (FICO) platform. That's why there's no rhyme or reason to it. Anybody can add or subtract their own "ideal" credit markers from that basic scoring system, and you get exactly what happened to you. That's why we say, your true FICO score comes from Fair Isaac via myfico.com. All the rest are FAKO scores, even though (and I agree with you here) that they are the 'most important' as that is the criteria used by the creditor(s) you are dealing with. Champion80
Horns, I can appreciate your help on letting people know that lenders do add other factors to their calculations to decide to grant credit, but for everyone working on their credit, it is important that people do use FICO because it is the base calculation of our worthiness. I had noticed another post you guys were sparring for a bit. Please try not to confuse the newbs Huh..
divemedic
You have to remember that each potion of the loan industry has slightly different criteria to determine credit worthiness. Insurance scores care more about util %, homes care about debt to income, you get the picture. Fair, Isaac came up with different models for each sector. That accounts for the differences. The score you pull for a mortgage is different than the one for a CC, which is different still for an auto loan. However, the MYFICO is a good, common benchmark to know where you stand. DPK99
Thank You. I am not questioning the validity of the FICO score however, just the scorewatch service through myfico.com.I hope it doesn't turn out like Credit Expert where I got updates early on but then went months by and the score didn't change while I was still paying them a monthly fee. It's kind of pointless to keep paying the fee if you can't get a recent score. I hope MyFico doesn't work the same way???
lyrech
I emailed them asking if there was a problem. Here's the response I got.The alerts are going out on time. You may want to make sure you don’t have a spam filter on.I do have a spam filter, but I've checked that folder and there's nothing from FICO in it. Maybe the changes I've made haven't been significant enough to change the score. I'll give it a couple of more weeks & see what happens.
divemedic
Unless there is a change to your file that affects your score, you get no update. What I did was set an alert up so that I get an update when my score goes up by 10 pts
