workinninetofive
Is it true the FTC won't investigate Paypal? Are they actually a bank? They are true con artists. Today, I recieve a weird call from Paypal. A customer service rep asking about my "supplier". I am selling a pair of jeans on Ebay (get real people). I told her I was just selling a pair of jeans that I had, and that I have no "supplier". She said ok, and that was basically it. I then recieved an email stating that my acct was limited. They wanted me to do 3 steps: confirm my location, ok did that. Fax documentation to them, contact info from my "supplier". Get this, let them run a credit check!! I mean WTF?! I will not let them, that is utterly ridiculous. Meanwhile, there is $22 in the acct. It is just $22, but if they did that to a million people.. well there you go. jq26
No, they are not a bank. I use eBay to sell things and run money through my PayPal account (which is a high paying money market account). I accept credit cards and debit cards as well as cash payments. I have never had an issue with either nor been contacted by them. At first glance, this doesn't sound right. Are you certain its not one of those fraudulent phishing schemes we are always warned about? Can't figure out wy paypal would request to run your credit. workinninetofive
No, I'm sure. I logged on and saw it. I have been to www.paypalsucks.org seems a lot of people have had the same thing happen to them. I just don't know what I can do about it.
miracle
I would back away from this situation. Look up paypals contact info and call them to find out why they are doing this. It does sound like a phishing scheme to me. Due to some recent experiances with paypal... they are NOT my favorite. But I am not sure they would do this. Call pay pal and see what they say. jq26
you may be right workin, but its best to be sure. Give them a ring and verify. Something is up either way. And keep us posted! For all we know, Choicepoint may have made another blunder and gave out all of our to PayPal info to crooks!
DHK
My account became limited as well. I guess it was because I changed my checking account information too many times.I just opened up a new account with a separate checking account number and email address. My only beef about that is I have to wait another 60 days to get my debit card replaced. They are such pains in my butt. I will probably end up doing the same thing. But, I have heard that if they find linkage they will close the new acct (same IP address). I'm guessing there is absolutely nothing that I can do about this.
DocDon
PayPal is now owned by eBay (another fine company you can never get to respond to an issue). Me smells a class-action coming up... and they brought it all on themselves.
jq26
What does one do to evoke the PayPal monster to limit an account? I use mine and have a balance in there and this is new to me. Can you avoid this or do they seem to randomly choose folks to p*ss off?
divemedic
I know of a guy who had this happen because he used it to pay for a new gun that he bought through gunbroker.com His account was suspended and he lost his money. The way that site works is that you pay for the gun and arrange to have it sent to a local gun store. The local gun store handles all the paperwork, background checks, etc for a nominal fee. All completely legal, because all transactions involving the gun itself are done through a licensed dealer. He lost his money.

DocDon
Check out the class-action against PayPal. Suspending accounts and seizing money is the reason behind the action.
workinninetofive
I've sent a letter to the President. I'm not sure how far I will get with this. Usually companies slow down when their going to court.. this one continues. Paypal is a monopoly.

crofttk
DITTO what Kristy said !When I get those messages, I delete them. Occasionally, I manually type the paypal URL into my broswer address window, log in, and check that everything is copacetic.
Tennessee
I'm going to be selling some tools on Ebay that my aunt gave to us. Is there anything I can do to prevent them from freezing or limiting my Paypal account? I opened up a Paypal account just so that people could pay me for the tools.
