dasani08810
I had a dispute in for a paid judgment from 8/98. I got it deleted but, as a result, my EQ score just dropped 12 points??Does the stupid FICO take into account the age of the judgment as part of my "credit history" average? I don't get it.The thing was from 98 and it was a negative listing (or so I thought). I have 5 accounts from 93 that are good and still listed (paid off long ago). I don't see how deleting a judgment could hurt my score, let alone 12 points!!!!
Sultan
Makes no sense, should have raised your score if anything, compare your reports carefully, (before & after the judgement was removed) make sure something else wasn't removed.
dasani08810
I did that. I printed out both the day before and the day of the deletion. Both the reports came from Equifax's own website (Credit Watch). Everything is IDENTICAL except the judgment being removed. Even PG shows the same score on both days. PG also shows the deletion. So not only does Equifax report a lower score, but PG reports the same score as if I never had the deletion. Too wierd. Makes no sense!!
workinninetofive
Sounds like you lost the history... it will cause your score to drop.
DocPC
Maybe you lost due to the age of the account. After a few years FICO starts discounting the neg and starts counting the age as positive.
dasani08810
Jeeeezeee, after months of trying to reverse engineer the FICO formula, they throw a wrench in it like making a judgment positive under certain circumstances. Back to the drawing board!!!
madcrapper
I had the same experiecne with a $151 exxon CO. Fought for 4 months three disbutes and it finally worked. I paid it in full 6 months before and it never reflected so they finally deleted it. It was only on my EQ report and it went down 12 points. Was an old account and I can only close my eyes and lower my head. Four months of anticipation, down the crapper.
