Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but didn't have any luck. The cr has a contact number for them but when I call, it is disconnected. We think they bought BH"s MBNA account, but not sure. Then I think they sold it to a second collection agency. The strange thing is that its showing as a positive tradeline with a zero balance, so I'm not sure we should be trying to get this out. I think it might be helping the FICO score. The bad thing is that the MBNA is showing negative as well as the new collection company (which actually is showing up as a collection.) If we try to get a mortgage or something else with a lot of scrutiny, I'm sure the loan officer is going to realize what this is. I was hoping maybe someone here had dealings with them in the past and could enlighten me. Thanks!

I found this when I googled them...

New entries include Credigy Receivables, a Georgia-based company that bought part of the First Select Corp. portfolio. First Select is the former debt-buying arm of Providian Financial Corp.

First Select Corporation

Thank you sooo much! I don't know what I was doing wrong in Google to not find this. That explains exactly what has happened now. The new collection agency on this account in the cr is Credigy so now I know what has happened. Thank you again heartrn!!

Credigy's the greatest. Not only do they open themselves up to litigation constantly, but they contract out so many of their debt portfolios that they end up dragging tons of other CA's and bottom feeder collection attorneys down with them.

For the record, First Select USED to be a credit card issuer...then Providian bought them out and they became a collection agency...then they went bankrupt.

I am being taken to court by Credigy Receivables over a past debt next week & could use any help you provided. I am located in Ft Worth, Texas (Tarrant County). It was a previous credit card with First Select & the last point of contact I can come up with is February/March 2002 for the amount of $4,531.00. Credigy has the debt at $7889.00 and I paid $3,000.00 December 2004 with the intent I’d pay more through the next several months. When they sent a “Consent Judgment” from their law firm, it showed a larger amount than I thought we agreed therefore did not sign. Then in February 2005 I received an “Order of Intent to Dismiss Case For Want Of Prosecution”. I haven’t paid anything else towards the sum so they are continuing with the suit & filed a “Plaintiff’s Request for Production of Documents on Non-Party”. The Court Clerk called to ask what documents I would be filing so am scrambling on what to do next. I figured if I showed up with the intents of paying another couple of thousand they would accept?? Or should I call Credigy & offer it before the court date? (Although I did that previous & they wouldn’t accept that small amount). Help – what are my chances of only having to pay another couple of thousand or do you think I should hire a lawyer?? Thanks ahead for your information… :(
