Hi,

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the Validation forum, if this is the wrong one I apologize and I'll move it.

I just received a letter from NCO Financial Systems and will be sending a Validation letter. My question is that my account with AT&T Universal (Citibank) is not 180 days past due (only 60). I asked AT&T to close my account in 2002, yet they continued to charge me interest which put me over the limit, which in turn added overlimit fees. Now the final amount is a lot. Of course I can't prove I sent a please close my account because I didn't keep a copy of the letter, I was young and stupid. The only "proof" is that I stopped charging on it then but continued to pay the minimum - sometimes more.

My question is can they turn my account to a collection agency before the 180 days? I have check numbers for all payments so I can prove that I'm not 180 days late. I live in FL and I know the SOL is 4 years and I'm guessing it's 4 years from last payment and not 2002 when I stopped charging on it/told them to close it. :(

Thanks for any help

Thank you both very much. I'll send the DV letter on Monday and I will most definitely check to see if they're licensed in FL. From all the negative posts about NCO and with my luck, I'm guessing that they probably are.

One thing in my favor is that I don't own a home, I don't own a car, I basically own my paycheck. I doubt I'm a good candidate for suing if it comes down to it.
