OK, I think that I may be ready to give this a try. Someone please tell me if I have this right. Feel free to throw in any suggestions!!

First I am going to work on getting my balances down to around 15% utilization.

Then I need to contact CRA’s directly about incorrect addresses, names, etc. I can phone them about these things, right?

Then I need to start disputing the older, negative items as not mine. I want to deal with the CRA on these, correct? I am asking for DV, right?

I need to dispute no more than 3-4 at a time, right?

Did I leave anything out???

Nope, just disputing. With the collection agencies, you want to ask for DV directly from them as well as disputing the entries with the CRAs.

Not true, you can dispute all of them at the same time as long as you list each individually with a separate reason to dispute for each.

you only ask for a DV from a CA not a CRA. CRA just dispute as "not mine" other than that your plan sounds good.

Thanks! I guess the LONG hours on the computer this weekend has paid off!!

What about disputing some of these "not mine" accounts online? Is it better to do it by mail?

My feeling is to do it via the mail. But some have had results doing it online, including me. I've experimented over the years just to have some first-hand experience with this stuff.
