hendu
There is a tax lien listed on my friend's EXP report. It is the only report that is listing this. That doesn't surprise me, because she has never lived in California! She lives in Texas and always has. She disputed it and it came back verified!!! I informed her to call the courthouse immediately in California and get to the bottom of this. My thinking is that EXP verified with a 3rd party source and never contacted the courthouse. She is absolutely positively sure that the lien is not hers! Let's say when she gets the problem corrected w/ the courthouse, should she seek civil remedy against EXP because they flat out didn't investigate this w/the couurthouse? We all know that EXP is notorious for doing that? I can't stand them!!!

They should be #1 on the sue list. They are the ones who are supposed to be performing the investigation. It is ultimately their responsiblity. DocDon
Correct. The CRA's cannot simply "mimick" information provided to them.

Sultan
Actually I take that back, I have a 730 Plus Score with EX, and a 761 FICO with Eq. TransUnion, unilaterally lowers my score and arbitrarily bounces it up or down, (usually down) with no changes. That almost seems illegal.

hendu
I'm right with you workinninetofive,I can't wait until she gets back with me on the conversation she had with the courthouse out in Cali! I'll keep you posted!
hendu
Here's the latest scoop on my friend's situation: $$$$$$$!!!!She was on the phone with the courthouse and they went through everything, like SS#, address, and lien number. The clerk informed her that she is not the owner of the lien. The only thing that matched was her first name and middle initial. The last names DID NOT EVEN COME CLOSE to matching! What a JOKE!! They then informed her to send them $5 to get a copy of the lien to use in court. I guess my question is...how many violations is that on Experian? Here's the scenario.....Lien shows up on the report, she disputes it, it comes back verified. What I want to know is who reported this if the courthouse in California has totally different info? Also, does she send a MOV to EXP to give them more rope to hang themselves? You know they won't respond! I'm gonna post this question in the "Lawyer Forum" as well.....
