Silver
There has been an on going problem with an account on my credit reports, and I'm not sure how to proceed. I've dispute numerous times with the credirt cureas (only Experian deleted). I've even contacted the company via certied mail and got no reponse.Sterling Bank is reporting that I was 30 days late in 08/2004 and 09/2004.What happened was I moved and my bill was sent to the wrong address, preventing my from receiving a correct bill. However, despite this I did send in a payment on 8/17/04 (payment is due first of the month). At this time Sterling had also moved and changed their name to First National Bank of Omaha. (Do they have to remove it because of this?)I called Sterling/First National and I explained this to a representative, that I didn’t get my bill the correct payment amount did not get to them (though payment was made on 8/17/17/04).The representative reversed the late fee payment and was supposed to have taken care of the late payment on my credit report. He did not follow through and this late payment is still showing, despite the fact that this was not my fault. Not only that, for some reason it is now also showing that I was late in 9/2004, even though a big payment of $400 was made on 9/09. I thought you couldn't be reported late to the credit bureuas unless you were 30 days pasy the due date?I have written both Sterling and First National, and gotten no reponse. I have written TransUnion and Equifax with my proof and the keep verifying and no will investigate no further.I'm not sure what my next step should be. Advice would be appreciated. HeartRN
You won't get it fixed through the CBs. You'll have to go through the OC. Have you talked to them and asked for a payment history? Ask for what proof they have that those were 30 days late. Do you have copies of the checks showing you made those payments, front and back? res0nzy7
When you wrote the letters to the bank was that to the corporate office? If not go on Planet Feedback and find the corporate address and send your explanation letter to them.
Silver
I wrote the letter to the address on my credit report. What I would also like to know, is that in the first instance, do they have to remove the 30 day late pay because I never got a correct bill?I want to know if this is something that I should even pursue.Thanks. prokrg
If you were not 30 days late and or you didn't send recieve a bill be prepared to sue them and see if they want to spend $$$ defending a credit tradeline that is in error. I have a similar situation and my lawyer is putting a case together for me. Don't take any companies crap fight them to the death.
