I just received a Target Guest Card with a $200 limit. Does anyone have any experience with how long it takes to get a credit limit increase or an offer to convert to the Target Visa Card?

I did read on a previous thread that they do not report your credit limit to CRAs. I am considering the idea of using it to purchase nearly $200 worth of items, and returning them after the billing statement arrives. Has anyone done this with success?

First of all, congrats on your new card.

My first and only increase was on the fourth bill cut date and it upped from 200 to 500.

The only CRA that doesn't show a limit is EQ for me. It works of the high balance instead, so it would make sense to charge it up and PIF to show a higher "high balance".

Hope this helps

Has anyone done this? I have a $300 target guest card and pay in full monthly too. I was thinking of buying a single item, maybe a necklace or something, worth about $290-$300. Then returning it the next day. That way, it doesn't seem out of place to return 50 items at once, and then Equifax will hopefully report a much higher "limit".

I am considering this too, however, don't you have to make the return after you get your billing statement for this to work?

I thought so and posted that at one point. Someone on this site corrected me, basically stating that a high limit is just that, the highest that the card was ever charged up, regardless of when during the billing cycle.

I will charge up my card this week and return the goods the next day. Then when Target reports to the CRAs, I'll post how Equifax reports the limit. Right now, they are reporting a $20 limit :( .

Well that kinda stinks, but It's the price we pay. I'm gonna have to do the same thing with my new Target Guest Card

I have a question releated to this. My Samsclub credit card shows a $300

limit, but High Balance of $315. There was a late fee assessed to my account

in error and it was never actually listed on my statement, only online for a few days.

I paid in cash at the store on the due date. (It was the first CC i've had in years and

almost forgot to pay it ) This happend in Sept., right after I got the card.

Anyway, doesn't this make it look like I've gone over the limit and will

it hurt my credit?

I will do the same as you. I have Equifax score watch, so I will let you know what happens.
