jack_a
I've been disputing an account with them, and they keep verifying it, even though Sterling, FNBO, CCB, and Infobank all deny my account exists. Here's what Norm Vercammen, Sterling VP in charge of dicking me around, emailed me:We have contacted FNBO and the following is their response:The account was with a collection agency CCB but was closed back by them.We are trying to get a hold of this customer to explain that this was aSterling account that charged off and then sold to FNBO. The accounthasn't been sold to anyone else. The reference that the customer makes toConseco is a mis-description on Experian that reflects FNBO/Conseco insteadof just FNBO. We are in the process of correcting this with the bureau. You have the right, under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, to dispute thecompleteness and accuracy of information in your credit file. Any disputeregarding your credit report should be made directly to the creditreporting agency (Equifax, Experian, Trans Union). When a credit reportingagency receives a dispute, it must reinvestigate and record the currentstatus of the disputed items within a "reasonable period of time," unlessit believes the dispute is "frivolous or irrelevant." If the creditreporting agency cannot verify a disputed item, it must delete it. If yourreport contains erroneous information, the credit reporting agency mustcorrect it. If a reinvestigation does not resolve your dispute, the FairCredit Reporting Act permits you to file a statement of up to 100 words toexplain your side of the story. The Federal Trade Commission recommends that your dispute should be made inwriting to the Credit reporting agency. In addition to providing yourcomplete name and address, your letter should clearly identify each item inyour report you dispute, explain why you dispute the information, state thefacts, and request deletion or correction. You may want to enclose a copyof your report with the items in question circled. At Sterling Bank and Trust, FSB we pride ourselves in the service of ourcustomers. Therefore, if an error exists, we will cooperate with theconsumer reporting agency to correct any inaccurate information.Thank You,Norm VercammenSterling Bank & TrustAssistant Vice PresidentServicing Manager248-351-3393 Fax: 248-351-3434Email: NVercammen@sterlingbank.comI sent a DV letter on 3/21. I hope this man graduated 6th grade. I would print that out, send it to the EX and say not mine, proof attached. Hopefullly, it will just get deleted.
