NAPUE1
I have Portfolio collecting for a SWB bill, that I don't even think is mine. All 3 of the bureas report $54, when I call Portfolio, they are claiming it is over $500. I asked if they could send me some validation, and the guy told me they can only send a collection letter. I want to send a debt validation letter, can anyone help me with wording? They collection is so old that they stopped actively collecting, and I don't even remember if I recv'd any mail from them, but this was yrs ago, I almost want to say that it has been over 7 yrs, but how can I tell without the validation? Please help me.
HeartRN
You can check on your CRs for the DOLA and that would let you know how old the account is. If it is older than 7 years, then I would dispute with the CRAs as obsolete and have them delete it. If not, DV the CA. There are sample letters at the top of the forum, but make sure you personalize it so it doesn't look like a form letter. Stop talking to them on the phone. You can get their address off of the CRs. Niner849
I've delt with portfolio once, okay twice. They had for what ever reason put a TL on both my and DH's credit reports for an AT&T cell phone bill. Neither one of us ever had AT&T. I sent them a DV letter for both, and they sent a letter apoligizing for the inconvience, and deleted the TL.
