fastndanger
Question: I had a car loan that was open in 2000-2003. This was 3 years of good finance info reporting on my credit. I recently ran my credit and found that the Credit Union was reporting (1) 30-day late so I disputed. The response I received was a deletion; this is not what I wanted. So I called the Credit Union but it seems they have closed down, so now I have no way of contacting them to get this reported back on my credit. What do I do? miracle
Sadly, that is the risk you run by disputing late pays with the CRA's because sometimes they will delete the account. It is next to impossible if the account is closed to have it report on the account again. if it is open it would reappear the next month. For furture reference, the best course of action to dispute lates on an otherwise great account is a goodwill letter. Sorry I didn't have a happy answer for you ... -Jenn
fastndanger
Thanks for that response; at least I will not pull my hair out anymore trying to figure it out.
gdouglaslee
Rule #53: Never dispute anything on an account that is closed through the CRAs.
Sultan
I lost an 82 month positive payment history from TU over the same thing, reporting down right bogus lates. I did not pay because I knew it had been paid, and I was never one time late, right at the time the OC finally came through *after 26 phone calls, several personal visits and a short letter writing campaign* I disputed it and *poof* it was gone. It caused the difference of 86 points of a spread between EQ & TU on the FICO. Talk about a bummer.
fastndanger
Isn’t it funny how it seems harder to keep positive reporting on your credit but the false or negative reporting is a battle to get resolved. At least this is the way it seems to me; am I alone on this
