chelleshocked
I have already disputed these accounts with all three CRAs, just want to make sure I am correct in my thinking according to what I have read. This is seperate from the question that I asked earlier and has already been answered. Sorry for all the newb posts Case # 1--This is reported on all 3 of my credit reports, but the account is listed twice on the Equifax account. We (dh and I) had a loan at one of those quick loan places (you know, the ones that charge outrageous interest and are usually short term.) We got behind on it, but a couple of years ago decided to clean up some stuff since we had the money at the time. This company was located in Lubbock TX at the time of the loan. We received a letter from them shortly before we had decided to pay off the entire amount stating that the company was now located in Brownfield TX under the same name. We paid the amount at this address. Currently I have the following TL on my Equifax CR, both for the same company:MIDWEST FINANCE CO-BROWNFIELDdate closed 5/2003pays as agreed (although this is derogetory on my CR because of the late payments)date of last activity 05/2003MIDWEST FINANCE CO-LUBBOCKdate closed:too new to ratedate of last activity 04/2002comments:closed or paid account zero balance (this is same account, so also derogetory info)Am I correct in my thinking that I should dispute (and did.) Is this legal? It is the same company, their address just change. Case #2--WFNNB/BEALLS-As reported by TransunionThis is an account that I got behind on when I started college. Date opened 09/1997Date closed 12/2004Purchased by another lenderPaid or paying as agreedBalance: $0Shows 120 days late until oct 2004, then all of the sudden status changes to OK. I do not currently have an account with them of course, and this entry just looks really confusing to me. I disputed it as not mine, and will see where that goes. Would you do the same?Case #3--also on TransunionThere is a credit check under regular inquiries (the ones that stay for 2 years) by a CA. It says Permissible purpose: CollectionCan they do that? I did not authorize it, and have already disputed this account as not mine. ASSET ACCEPTANCE, LLC. I haven't disputed the credit check, just wondering if I should. Thanks for any and all help. If any of this sounds confusing let me know so I can provide more info. Thanks! Chelle

And then of course wait some more and see what happens. This is fishy because you can't have 2 different DOLAs on what is essentially the same account... we need an expert opinion here!!!Case #2--WFNNB/BEALLS-As reported by Transunion This is an account that I got behind on when I started college. Date opened 09/1997 Date closed 12/2004 Purchased by another lender Paid or paying as agreed Balance: $0 Shows 120 days late until oct 2004, then all of the sudden status changes to OK. "Not mine" is the best way to start off disputing an item; if its verified, you can always move on to other reasons "wrong balance, wrong dates," etc. If you had a relatively good payment history for most of the life of the account, a good will letter may help if its not disputed off. That way, you get some positive history and a bit of a score boost.Several of my bad accounts say "OK" in the status line... its not OK, but, whatever... just one more inaccuracy.Case #3--also on Transunion There is a credit check under regular inquiries (the ones that stay for 2 years) by a CA. I haven't disputed the credit check, just wondering if I should. Collection activity is permissable, sadly. Unless they do it too often; then you can accuse them of "poisoning" your report. But one here and there is expected. If you haven't already, do a search on Asset so you know what you are up against. They are Hall of Shame members.Hope this helps.... good luck and welcome!!!
