True or False? CAs are legally allowed to pull credit report

True or False or depends on the State? (I'm in Arizona)

Do CAs have the legal right to request and get copies of credit reports if they are the current creditor?

I thought I had read somewhere on this board that this isn't true...but I can't find it again.

I'm asking for inquiry removals and wondering if I should try to get them all removed, or perhaps leave some alone...

True. CAs can pull your credit report at any time before you submit a DV/Dispute with them. Once you get your letter to them, they cannot engage in any collection activity until they validate...that includes pulling your report to sniff around. If they validate, they can resume collection activity.

FYI pulling your report multiple times is a different issue. That is called "poisoning" a consumer's credit report to leverage a payment. THAT is illegal under the FDCPA.
