Northbrook
I have several credit cards that were last paid on in April, 2000. The number of letters and phone calls from CA's has decreased to 2-3. I believe the SOL on credit cards in Missouri, where I live now, and Illinois, where the credit cards were issued is 5 years. Does this mean that after May 1, if I am contacted by a CA, I can inform them that the debt is SOL. Or, should I write them a letter 1) informing them that the debt qualifies for SOL; 2) that I am formally notifying them to no longer correspond with me via phone or written; and 3) should they have any further issues, they can contact my attorney who have I retained to represent me regarding any future financial problems. Can I breathe a little easier after May 1????Love this site. LadynRed
Depends on when in April you went delinquent on the accounts. The SOL would start 30 days after your last payment. So you may have to get past 5/31 to be really safe.
