Ok, I am following the guide on debt validation and in the steps it says to also send letters to the 3 CRA's to have them validate the debt as well. But it doesn't expand on this process. So here are the questions I have:

This debt is mine, but if I have the CRA's validate and they come back stating that it is validated, which they probably will, what then? What proof do they need to provide as validated?

So lets say that by some stroke of luck they don't validate and so they remove the listing. If the OC is still submitting lates to the CRA, what happens to those submissions? Is it even something to concern myself over?

If I have 5 accounts to request validation on, is it better to do it all at once in a letter, by phone, or some other way? Or better one at a time?

I have to admit, I feel a bit guilty with this because I know the listings are deserved but I want to repair my credit. Should I do this now or wait until I can reach agreements with the OC's for a payoff and removal of lates?

Thanks

Iviguy- You shouldn't feel guilty. YOu are disputing THEIR inaccuracies. If they would list it as the TL should be listed, there would be no problems. As it is, there are many inaccuracies that cause problems in MANY MANY people's reports and that is unfair, unjust, and according to the FCRA it is unlawful. Don't feel guilty for standing up for your rights or for laws that are in place to help protect you! :)

Ok, so should I dispute all at once or not and by phone or letter? Are they required to provide proof that they did actually validate? If so, in what form?

Thanks

You definately do it by LETTER. This is the first thing I learned on this very helpful website. Send everything CMRRR, that way if you need to sue one of them in the near future, you have a paper trail.

Also, never ever talk to a CA on the phone (EVER). Also send them a DV CMRRR. THe CA are liars and are trained that we are a worthless piece of crap when you know what? Life happens!!! Things come up.

Good luck!! Hope I helped.

One more thing, some say do it all at once and others say do it a little at a time. I'd wait until a credit expert answered. There are many on here.

Please help iviguy out with this one. :?

First, to keep everyone on the same page. CRA's verify.... you validate with CA's... it just makes it easier when we use those two words, to keep them in the same context as we've been doing...

What's up with these accounts? Are they open or closed? Charged Off? Open with a few lates?......

I wouldn't feel guilty, I had a CC verify an account that was closed in 2001, $0 balance, paid as agreed, report me 2 x 30 day late in 2002, and 60 day late in 2003. Even though I could prove it was closed, in good standing, it was like pulling teeth getting them to remove the erroneous listing they added to the account...I am sure they didn't lose any sleep over it.

Thanks. I am still trying to learn all the terminology. All these accounts are closed and about 150 days late. At least one of the accounts has been listed as going to collections on my report. I have been contacted by 2 CA's and have sent both of them the validation letters. One, Wolpoff, has never responded back to the letter. The other one responded with the Chaundry case and I replied back with the Fields case. So far so good.

Accidentally answered the phone without checking the other night and it was one of the OC's. They wanted to settle at 50% but wasn't going to do anything with the credit. Don't think I will go that route.

So the only thing yet to do is send the verification letters to the CRA's. But I am not sure how that works really. If they say they verified the account, how do I know they really did? Another guy on this forum said that there is a bankruptsy on his CR and the CRA says they verified it even though its actually his fathers and not his.

Sorry for all the questions.
