chicksr Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I went to court and had both my pension and VA check ordered exempt by the judge. What happens to the judgment now? Is it over with or is there something else that the CA can do?This is the only income that my wife and I have. This is in New Jersey.
LadynRed Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Well, all that means is they can't garnish anything and they can't attach your bank accounts. However, they CAN place a lien against your home - if you have one - and they CAN go after any other non-exempt assets you may have, including your car(s). You need to be sure you file your exemptions with the court and the lawyer ASAP. Ask the court clerk if there is a form for you to use.
