hotrod Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 has any body herd of a company called fowler and fowler thats a credit repair company
DocDon Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Our fees are as follows: Individual: $149.00 Credit Report Analysis/Audit Fee. Then five easy payments of $99.00 for the work done the previous month. Couples: $199.00 Credit Report Analysis/Audit Fee. Then five easy payments of $159.00 for the work done the previous month. Yikes. $149.00 then $500 per month (split into 5 easy payments)?I think you'd be better off learning this for yourself.
bellatragedia Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 OMG that can't be accurate. Do a little reading, ask a few questions here, and spend that $649 per month (or $500) paying down current debts (accounts that are current and not in collections or charged-off) yourself or paying for deletes (on negative tradelines) if push comes to shove.

DocDon Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I would hope so.Still, I thought a CRO couldn't ask for money until they completed what they promised....
breathing_easier Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Some CROs offer a money-back guarantee. Perhaps that's in the terms somewhere?
DocDon Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I didn't go back and read. It was always my understanding that they couldn't charge anything until they fulfilled their promises... maybe I've been wrong...Time to read the CROA.
breathing_easier Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Lexington Law charges a flat rate every month whether or not they get results.
DocDon Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Another reason not to depend on those services.
breathing_easier Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 After two years and having such a tough time get my negative OC TLs off (I've had fairly decent success with others, though) I'd consider a CRO charging a decent rate with a money-back guarantee. Figure maybe fresh eyes might bring something to the table. Could be, too, that I'll just be stuck with the negs for another four years. Live and learn.
sxxx Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Doc DOnThat is how the credit repair agencies are getting around the law. The law does state that they cannot receive payment unless they fullfill their promises. But what they do is call this "consultation fees, set-up fees, analyzing fees". So they can charge these fees up front. The reason they can charge you monthly, because you get your results monthly, so in essence they have fullfilled their contract, because in the contract there is a clause stating they can't "guarantee all positive results"but monthly "legal" they have gotten some result positve or negative. But they know they will achieve some positive results, so they offer Money Back Guaranteed.
