WTFpwned
Some background;Citibank account appears after 2 years the other day. I received the 510 letter from the CA. (a local CA I know of personally) In the letter, it was said "they have been assigned", so I have to assume the debt hasn't been sold off just yet. Amount is for 10k and some change. I know that nearly 50% of this is accrued interest. (not like that matters).Pulled all 3 individual CR's tonight to find it not listed on any of them. I did find an inquiry from the CA that's assigned to it. Now, the kicker is I got a co-signed loan on a 2-year old car this past fall. When the dealership ran the paperwork, the CR they pulled showed this 10k with Citibank as closed and charged off.Why is this not on my CR anymore? Was it removed? If yes, why? If no, where did it go? I was getting ready to DV with the CA and dispute with the CRA's, as the guide suggests, but there is nothing on my CR having anything to do with this debt. I know the clock's tickin here on my course of action, but I'm lost and confused on this one. Any ideas, help, advice, ramblings are encouraged Thanks again for all the great ideas shared here - you guys are great!
willingtocope
Welcome back from the dark side...I'd suggest you do the DV process on this collection. Is it close to SOL? Maybe that caused it to bubble up to the top of the "to do" list.Charged off doesn't mean dead and buried. They still kept in on their books and maybe did a run through their archives trolling for people to intimidate. Did something really good happen on your CRs recently? New mortgage? New job? Hard to tell what got their interest...
WTFpwned
I'm no professional on SOL, but as a standard issue Citibank CC, I assume this goes over as an Open Ended agreement? If so, I believe that's 6 years for Minnesota from last date of activity. The CA is claiming the last payment to the account was Jan '03. That would only put me a touch over 2 years into the SOL right? As for good things happening to my CRs... I'm not sure, no mortgage, but I did start a new job last fall just prior to getting the loan on the car. However info on the new job is not listed on any of my CRs. I guess my biggest area of confusion here is the fact that in Oct 04, the car dealership ran my CR and saw this 10k charge off, (which put me in the position for a co-signer on the loan). 6 months later I pull the CRs and it's no where to be found, not even listed as in collections. In the back of my mind I'm thinking that I'm not getting all the information from the CRA's that I should be. Or at least not as much info as they are giving out to inquiries.I'm still geared to send the DV out this week. Something just feels wrong here...Keep the ideas rolling please. willingtocope
Yep...looks like 6 yrs in Minnehaha...You're getting full reports right from the CRAs, right? The 3-in-1 stuff, and privacy guard do tend to abbreviated. You may have to look through the entire report in order to find the hidden stuff...theoritically, you as the consumer should acutually see everything, even the stuff they don't normally report on an inquiry... WTFpwned
Yeah, 6 years... Yippie And yes, I obtained individual CRs from all 3 online. I triple checked each one. The only things I found were inquiries of the OC from back in May '03 (shortly after the last payment, as the CA is stating), and then an inquiry of April '05 from the current CA.The OC must have had it removed from my CR, although, I haven't the foggiest why. There is no other logical explanation that I can see. I'll be sending the DV out to the CA, certified on Friday...Wish me luck -
