Asset Acceptence Question

I recently received a call from AA about an account from 1998. I first asked for validation; which they sent the generic letter with no proof. Its been about a month now and I received a call today from them about it. I told them that I cannot verify the account was mine and that regardless, it is past the statute of limitations for the state.

They said that while that is true and they cannot pursue legal action, unless I filed a police report that said someone opened that account without my knowing, that the debt would remain open and I would continue to receive calls and mail about it.

Anyone know what my next step is now?

To recap, the date of last activity is over 7 years at this point, and I was supplied with a validation; but it did not meet the requirements set forth to prove the debt was indeed mine.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

C&D as in cease and desist (sp?)? Is there an example of one of those available on the website that you know of?

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Dear a$$-pipes,

This letter is to inform you that the alleged debt is time-barred by law. I now demand that you Cease and Desist from ANY form of communication with me concerning this alleged debt.

ORIGINAL SIGNED

DO NOT sign it, send it CMRRR.

It can be as simple as that or you can adapt it however you like. That is just off the top of my head.
