wolfpup
my boyfriend has a citi card. a couple of years ago, a restaraunt double swiped his card. Of course this was in 2 states over. So when he got the statement, he called Citi to dispute that charge. They wouldnt do a thing about it - told him he had to go to the place of business. well he did 6 months later and was able to get the refund.anyway - when he added me to his card as an AU, i noticed his acct was still listed in dispute. I told him to call and have them remove the dispute from his credit file, he no longer disputed. they told him that HE had to contact each credit bureau to have it removed, that they didnt do that.WTH is that? They put it on there! he didnt call the CBs and dispute it, only disputed it with Citi and now they refuse to remove it!
DocDon
They made him drive 2 states over to file a charge dispute? Somebody is going to be fired at the very least. I'd be rifling off a letter to corporate, the FTC and the AG's office so fast it would make their heads spin. You make a claim. That's it. You DON'T need to drive to the place where the error happened. This latest episode is just the icing on the cake. Did he dispute the accounts with the CRA's or are you saying they placed the entire account in dispute over the double charge?
wolfpup
he has never contacted the CRAs. he called to dispute that one charge and 2 years later i found the entire account was still in dispute.and yes - they would not do anything about the double charge. Luckily, it happened in Bristol, TN which we go to twice a year, so he was able to go back to the place of business. But still, the fact that he had to take care of it.he wanted to close the acct - but it is his oldest account at 10 years old.
DocDon
CITI has made two grievous errors.A charge dispute is not the same as disputing the entire account. When you dispute a charge made to your account, they don't mark the entire account "in dispute" on your credit files.I'd file formal complaints against them for their handling and continued mishandling of the situation.
