HeartRN
I sent a PFD to one of my CA and hadn't heard anything until today. I got my mail and when I pulled the papers out, I was getting excited because I recognized the PFD I had sent them. Well, once I opened it, all the thrill was gone. They crossed through the part about deleting the TL and/or removing all negative entries. Bahstards! I guess another letter is in order now. DocDon
Sounds like something a third grader would do. In the professional business world, you write a letter of declination.

HeartRN
I did DV them and between them and the OC I received plenty. They are collecting on for the OC. And they call themselves attorneys.

HeartRN
Ok, so the more I looked at that PFD they sent back, the more miffed I got. I ended up sending them another letter letting them know just how unprofessional they were considering they are a law office, and that I would not pay this account without a deletion. They just started reporting in February, and it is within SOL, but it's only $98. In my letter I included another PFD agreement with the stipulation that if the agreement was altered in any way that it was rendered null and void. At the same time I found out who the president was that handles my state's division and sent her an email explaining what had been going on, and how I had been trying to settle this debt. I included copies of the trash I received from this CA. I also sent her a copy of the PFD. She then forwarded my email to a woman in the collections appeals office who contacted me and told me to call. I emailed her back asking if she would recall the account, and she again told me to call!! (Ok, I have the recorder...why not?)So after we talked for a little while about how she got my email to the president, and could see that I was trying to settle this debt, she couldn't recall the account because they have a contract with the CA, and if they recall the debt they are essentially breaking the contract. She also told me that in her opinion, a paid collection was much better than an unpaid one. ( I corrected her.) She then went on to inform me that they usually don't delete anything from credit reports once the debt is paid, BUT if I were to pay the debt in full, then she would personally call the CA and tell them to remove any negative or derogatory information from my credit files. (Um, I'd been offering to pay in full all along!!) So I agreed, and she agreed to call them after we hung up and inform them of our deal. I was instructed to call her once they received my money order, and she would call them again to confirm that our agreement was carried out. I am also to receive a copy of the deletion form they submit to the CRAs. So I mailed out the money order to the CA with another letter reiterating the agreement and they signed for it Friday. I just spoke with my appeals lady a little while ago (again on tape) and told her the CA received the funds Friday. She told me that she was aware of that since the CA called her Friday, and they will be deleting their information from my credit file!! MY FIRST PFD!! I have to say that I never raised my voice, lost my temper, utilized my sarcasm, or came off snippy. I stayed calm, polite, and firm...AND IT WORKED!!Once all goes through, I have to email the president back and let her know that my situation was handled in a prompt and satisfactory manner, per her request!!WOOHOO FOR ME(having my own little party here)
