jclemm1 Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 I just got a letter in the mail from one CA that I sent a DV to and the only thing that matches my credit report is the account number and my name. They sent me an itemized statement. What should I do next? Do I send them another letter requesting more information?
GreatGadsby Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 what kind of an account are they collecting? I'm under the impression that an itemized statement is generally not sufficient to prove the debt is yours, but that sometimes, such as in the case of utilities accounts, the courts have held that a printout is sufficient.
jclemm1 Posted April 30, 2005 Author Report Posted April 30, 2005 It is a utility. The electric company.
divemedic Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 They would also have to show how they identified YOU as the correct person. For example, if they could show the utility service was provided at you r address while you resided there.
jclemm1 Posted April 30, 2005 Author Report Posted April 30, 2005 What letter would you use to get this account deleted since they varified the account. This is truly my account and really do not mind paying the debt. It's only $500. But I do want it off of my CR. The information in the responce totally verifies the account. Thanks in advance for all the help.
GreatGadsby Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 try a pay for delete letter. since you don't mind paying it.
