what does this letter from transunion mean?

thank you for contacting transunion. our goal is to maintain complete and accurate information on consmer credit reports. we have provided the information below in response tp your request.

Re: policy for information retention

The fair credit reporting act allows:

-Civil judgements, whether paid or unpaid, to be reported for seven years from the datethe judgement was entered, depending on your state of residence.

-tax liens to be reported for seven years from the date paid or released.

-unpaid tax liens to be reported for an indefinite period of time, depending upon your state of residence.

-adverse credit history, such as collections and profit-and-loss write-off accounts, to be reported for seven years from the date of delinquency.

-non-adverse credit information to be reported for a period of 10 years from the date teh accuotn was paid or closed.

-bankruptcies to be reported for 10 yearsfrom the date of filing.

-accounts included in the bankruptcy filing to be reported for seven years from the date the bankruptcy was filed.

does this mean they wont investigate? what should i do?

I haven't gotten the letter every single time I have disputed, but I get it often. They still have to investigate and reply. That is just their little investigation letter... not uncommon at all and nothing to worry about :) Wait out your 30 days (or 45 if disputing with FACTA report) and see what the response is. This is NOT their response.
