ANDERSON FIN NETWORK INC -How best to proceed

My DH has this acct showing up on his EX credit report. Let me give you a little background info. He moved from Massachusetts to NY a little while back. Right now most of his contact info is showing as MA on his credit report. Our current address is showing but not our phone number.

Here is my question. I am working on cleaning up my credit but we would also like to work on his as well. We are a little nervous because before I found this site I just disputed with the CRA on my CR and now I got sued. I did not do the DV process. Right now we really cannot afford another lawsuit of any kind but would still like to clean up what little we can. He has this AFNI acct on his report. Its only for $116. They either bought it or is collecting it for Sprint. What is the best course of action he can take. I know he can do the DV with AFNI and the CRA but what SOL should we be following on this. We don't really want to wake up any other creditors to find out where he is and get lawsuit happy. Right now no one is calling or writing him about ANY of his collection accts.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

First of all is the bill from AFNI yours? I ask this because I am suing them right now for reporting a debt that wasn't mine. If it is how old is it? We can't advise on SOL without knowing this and where you live. If you have no knowledge of the debt, DV them now. You won't be the first that they have tried to collect a phony bill from.

I would also check to see if they are licencced to do business in your state, if they are not then they will have to remove the listing on your CR.

Yes, the bill belongs to my husband. It is also being reported on his credit report.

We are not sure when the acct was opened because Sprint is not reporting, only AFNI. AFNI opened theirs 1/2003. I called EX and they said the delinquency date is 12/2000.

The debt originated in MA but now he lives in NY.

How do I check the licensing for my state.

I had the exact same situation with AFNI and Sprint for about $300, the date was 2002.

I DV'd them both - no response. DV'd both again almost two months later, included copy of previous mail and proof of delivery. This time, got a response from AFNI that all reporting had ceased on that account, and they no longer handled it, I should contact SPRINT.

Sent CRA's copy of AFNI letter with delete request. (Took a few months, but I did eventually get it AFNI off all of them.)

Sent another DV to Sprint, included previous copies and POD, demanded that they validate or remove this account from my name. They never responded, but all three CRA deleted this account after I requested deletion about two more times over the course of two months or so(nicely).

Slow and steady persistance. The entire process took almost 6 months, but it did work, and neither has ever reappeared on my CRA's. My tactic with the CRA's has always been clear, concise, and I always start or end the letter with 'thank you for your recent assistance in correcting my reports (LOL...usually followed with "but...', and my next request)' or 'thank you for your assistance in correcting my reports.'

I have not yet had to get belligerent, except once with TransUnion, and then I went right back to being nice. It's worked for me.

Hope that's of some help.
