TRANS UNION ......

Recommended Posts

:evil: I opened a credit card with Firstmerit bank in December of 2004....secured in an attempt to get credit straight. Since sept of 2004 I have paid off $ 9,000.00 in debt...Firstmerit states they have repeatedly sent the info for credit card to transunion, that it is open, and i am paying as agreed....still not on my credit report...every single month i have disputed it and every month i get a letter from transunion stating the information is not on my credit report....HELLO!!!!! that is why i am disputing it...Firstmerit says there is nothing they can do other than keep reporting it every month as usual...has anyone ever come across this and how long did it take to fix??? i now have a mortgage (very high interest because of the credit score without the credit card showing)....does anyone know how i can go about getting this fixed??? i am so frustrated with trans union i could scream....and have already filed a compalint on them with the federal trace commision...that was basically pointless - they did nothing....HELP!!!!:x

Get something in writing from Firstmerit stating they have reported the account to Transunion with specific dates. Then send a letter to Transunion along with a copy of Firstmerit's letter. Indicate that Transunion is required by federal law to report any information they receive from creditors accurately, and they are breaking the law by not reporting Firstmerit's information.

It's also very possible that Firstmerit is lying to you. If they hem and haw about writing a letter, then close your account and take your money to another company that will report to the agencies.

It never gets fixed. This is a fun game that they like to play. Each subscriber is assigned a rep at the CRA they report to. It's really a simple matter of getting a hold of them to discuss the issue, but since "no problems exist with our reporting system"..... you get screwed.

Firstmerit gave me a letter of credit stating when the card was opened, account balance, how paid, etc... they said to give it to my creditors in the mean time until it gets straightened out. I sent the letter to transunion with another dispute letter and they sent back the standard reply...its not on my credit report....up until today - i had NO credit score with trans union only....this has really hampered me quite a bit...my mortgage company needed all 3 scores to get an average score - i had to work like mad to find a mortgage company that would give the loan with only 2 scores....when i have tried to talk to trans union via telephone - you get a nasty rep with attitude....and yeah at this point i have alot of attitude when i talk to them - i am sick of it all. i paid everything off, now have 2 credit cards and a very new mortgage (too new to show up yet)....but with trans union i had no score whatsoever....yeah i am feeling just a tad postal at them....
