mnorwood
I currently have a TU 671, but one unpaid collection that is over three years old. Can anyone advise from past experience on which CC I could get approval on?
Xanathos
Your FICO score isn't what determines approval or denial. That's a pile of crap that FICO and Suze Orman feeds you. Each CC company uses its own scoring model, which strays pretty significantly from the FICO model. Chase always pulls TU, and their big thing is long account history and not many inquires. BoA pulls em, and their big thing is lack of negative information. Providian is pretty easy to get, but they like at least a year of account history (average for all your accounts). It all varies on your situation.
mnorwood
Thanks! I think I will wait a few months and try to get that collection off first then. Yeah Suze gets on my nerves.
devil21
I just got a BoA rewards card with $5200 limit with two old COs and an Asset Acceptance tradeline, but my FICO was still 705. I think the FICO does have more impact that most think, at least for instant online approvals.
Sultan
Chase usually pulls TU. I've also heard that Wells Fargo does as well.As Xan says FICO isn't all its cracked up to be, I've seen many of good debate on this subject, while I like the FICO scoring model and system as a standard, I do know that someone with close to an 800 FICO can still be turned down due to too many recent inquiries. A lot depends on the strictness of the company you are applying with also.
