SassyJ
Im stuck, I have a judgement on my report from sears that was filed 2002, however Sherman Aq is reporting this same amount on my report as in collections. I spoke to the people at the court house and they said the only way you can remove a judgement is to pay. I need to get this off of my report as I will be opening a business next year. Do I contact the OC and pay the money, and DV Sherman Aq? I dont know what to do.
chincheck
Were you served notice of the lawsuit? If not, you can try to have the judgement vacated on the grounds that you were never served. The plaintiff will be notified and may even contest it; in that case, you can approach the OC about settling the debt in exchange for not contesting your motion to vacate. While you work to get your judgement vacated, DV Sherman as well as dispute with the CRAs. Make your best effort to settle with the OC. If you can get the OC to accept your offer, Sherman will no longer have a debt to collect which means you can make them go away forever.
