tonyflo04
So I got a letter back from one of my Collections Accounts. They said that if even when I pay it off, they are unable to delete the line Item...only list it as "Paid in Full". does that sound right? what would be my next option with this one CA. By the way...the CA is Professional Recovery Systems, Inc./Bureau of Commercial Collections.
rommel
sadly, even if you pay the CA for the debt, it stays as a bad mark on your record, check to see if your debt is past the SOL for your state, send a dispute letter to the CA, send it CRRR.....paying it off does nothing but give the CA money....your credit report will look just as bad
tonyflo04
This collection was reported in '03 for an account in Calif. I now live in Nevada...how do I find out the SOA for this situation
LadynRed
Guess what, THEY LIED ! The fact is, if they put it ON your reports, they most certainly CAN remove it. Some CA's though will not go for the 'pay for delete' deal.
rommel
The SOL will be in the state where you aquired the debt, check the SOL link at the top and find your state....good luck
tonyflo04
This account was with a power company that went to collections in '03, If they can validate the debt, should I just pay them the full sum (even with the thought that they cannot remove the line item from the CRA report [this according to a letter they sent me and a policy memo from equifax stating that fact]), or what? IR CONFUSED
Recovering Attorney
I might try to make a deal with teh power company directly, with the proviso that they tell teh CA to delete teh item from teh CRA. No way a CA will do it for you unless they screwed up.
