mommywads
I had been doing so well! I had my equifax score from 500-560I applied for a car loan and was under the impression that my credit was going to be pulled ONCE!. Turns out that 7 different companies pulled my credit for review. Now my equifax score is 492!!!Can they do that? What can I do.. I feel like all my work has gone down the drain! flythai834
i think with each inq. it should only pull your score down by just a couple of points. so if 7 creditors checked your crs, then i think it is impossible for it to go from a 560 to a 486 (or whatever your low score is now). i would check your crs and see if there has been any new negative info on there. creditdodger
Call Equifax and tell them that you do not recognize those companies and you did not apply for credit with them. They should take them off in about 10 minutes. If you think there are too many inquiries, call once and ask for half of them to be investigated. Then call tomorrow and ask for the rest to be investigated. I have asked for inquiries to be removed and have been denied. But when I ask for an "investigation" they always comply and remove almost immediately. BTW, inquiries should not have that much effect on your score as you point out. Maybe there is something else on your report. IMO.

jasen
When applying for auto loans, all credit pulls related to that within 14 days should be considered as one ding, not multiple.
