kevmic
I received a collection notice for a credit card that I let go over 10 tears ago. It is already off my credit report because it is so old. What would be my first step to getting this CA to leave me alone.
Revco
First and only step - send a C&D immediately. If they violate it, follow up with an ITS.
DocDon
The only problem is, unless you live in Wisconsin, there are no grounds to file a lawsuit against a CA attempting to collect on a debt past SOL.They can sue you. SOL is your defense. You have to convey that as a CA they are well aware that the SOL exists. It's their job to know. Therefore, their collection activity, including placing any information regarding the collection in your credit files in order to extort money from you is unacceptable, and you will seek relief for such action. Then you tell them not to contact you.
