Does anyone know if I can dispute a reporting with the OC based on the fact that it is reported differently between EQ and EX???

on TU account its listed as:

Acct Type: Mobile Home

Acct Status: Closed

Monthly Payment: $0

Date Open: Oct, 1999

Balance: $33,672

Terms: 300 Months

High Balance: N/A

Limit: N/A

Past Due: $33,672

Remarks: N/A

Payment Status: Repossession

on EQ it is listed as:

Acct Type: Installment

Acct Status: Open

Monthly Payment: $385

Date Open: Oct, 1999

Balance: $33,672

Terms: N/A

High Balance: $34,724

Limit: N/A

Past Due: $0

Remarks: INVOLUNTARY REPOSSESSION

Payment Status: Reposession

One is closed, one is open.. one says mobile home, one says installment.

one is listed under revolving accounts and one is listed under real estate.

I"m confused.. is this anything I base a dispute on?

Hi mommywads,

This first reason you would want to dispute a TL (Trade Line) is you would want to say "This isn't mine."

("I don't remember doing business with this company.")

If it comes back validated,

("Oh yeah - you're right I forgot I did business with the company...")

- then you think of other reasons to dispute it...

I have the same problem with a student loan account, Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae is reporting that 1) I opened 2 accounts with them back in Sept. 2001 and that 2) one account is transferred to another lender and the other account is open. Both accounts have the same account number. For the record, I did not apply for 2 student loans with Sallie Mae . . . . .

I just sent a letter to Sallie Mae's General Counsel demanding an explanation and a deletion of the open account since someone else at Sallie Mae is telling the CRAs that this same account was sold to another lender some 3 years ago. Under UCC 3-301 (adopted in most states), a creditor must possess the original application/Prom note in order to collect payment on an account. A creditor cannot collect payment on an account if it sold the Note to another lender. I asked Sallie Mae to produce a notarized copy of the original Note in a previous letter to their Customer Service Department and Sallie Mae couldn't do it . . . .

In any event I cc'ed today's letter to TransUnion's and Experian's attorneys to dispute this account (again). Equifax deleted this account a few months ago. In any event, let's hope things work out for the best for me. I'll keep you posted.
